VolleyBall Knee Dislocation Injury

During my volleyball season, I dislocated my knee in the middle of a game. I tried to push through it at first and kept playing, but it quickly became clear that something was seriously wrong. What I remember most isn’t the moment it happened, but everything after. I went from being fully involved with my team to suddenly being on the side lines, watching practices and games instead of participating. As an athlete, that change is harder than you realize. You don’t just lose playing time you also lose part of your routine and identity. The recovery process also taught me a lot mentally. There were moments of impatience, especially when I wanted to get back faster than I should have. But over time, I had to learn that healing takes patience, and that taking care of your body is one of the biggest parts of being an athlete. Looking back, the experience changed how I see injuries in sports. It made me more aware of how many athletes go through recovery, and how important it is to feel supported during that time. It taught me that coming back means adjusting to your own body and its needs, even if it means taking it slow or being restricted to certain drills. At the end of the day, being patient with the process is what allows you to return to your sport in a stronger way.
